Decisions

The demons that haunt us,
Aren't always
What people say they are.
The past will follow you,
And even haunt you.
But the demons
Are from the choices we've made,
Acts we've committed,
And those that we've hurt.
Their scars,
Are our demons.
As life goes on
Their claws tear and dig
Into our fragile conscience.
Sometimes the scars
Are our own,
That we wear everyday.
Inflicted upon ourselves.
Chains and manacles,
We place upon our talents.
Binding ourselves down,
Never letting them free.
Never letting them fly.
Sometimes the choice
Is the lesser of two evils.
But next time,
Which decision will you make?
